Part-time

·  Aged care focus

·  Permanent part-time opportunity

About Us

In 1838, five Sisters of Charity from Ireland arrived in Australia. They were the first religious women to come to the Colony. Their mission is to bring to all people “the love, tenderness and concern of Christ for the poor and marginalised”.

The Sisters of Charity of Australia led by the Congregational Leader and her Council have many mission involvements. The Congregational Office is based in Bondi Junction in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

The Congregation is seeking two experienced Support Coordinators to work part-time to support their Sisters who live independently in the community or in residential care in various locations in Sydney and some outside of Sydney.

The Opportunities

Reporting to the General Manager, you will work collaboratively with the Health and Wellbeing Coordinator and other colleagues to provide practical support to each Sister, allowing for her continued participation in the life and mission of the Congregation.

You will visit and maintain regular contact with the Sisters to develop rapport and an awareness of each Sister’s individual wellbeing. You will accompany and transport the Sisters to medical appointments and social outings as required, to ensure their physical and overall wellbeing.

Using your strong organisational and administrative skills, you will assist the Sisters with completing necessary paperwork, for example, in regards to hospital admissions or payment of medical accounts, and ensure that Sisters in hospital or residential care have any practical support they need, including appropriate clothing, shopping for personal items and assistance with meals.

The role is an ongoing part-time position, with two positions available. Flexibility is required from the successful candidates to be available for any emergencies that may arise.

About You

Your calm nature, understanding of the needs of the elderly and genuine desire to assist them are key to this role. Just as important is your personable nature, ability to work both independently and as part of a small team, and willingness to uphold the ethos and mission of the Congregation in carrying out your work.

Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:

  • Experience in an aged care setting (relevant qualifications are advantageous)

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships with the Sisters and others

  • Empathy, compassion and excellent written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise work

  • Current NSW driver’s licence and access to a fully insured and maintained motor vehicle

  • Computer literacy

  • Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to respond to emergency calls.

If the above sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you!

What’s on Offer?

  • The opportunity to work for a mission-focussed organisation that strives to make a difference in the lives of others

  • Attractive salary based on experience

  • Work-life balance.
