About Us

The Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay (Diocese) is home to more than 215,000 Catholics and exists to serve the People of God in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, the North Shore and the Central Coast. Our communities are nourished and sustained by the sacramental life of the Church celebrated and available through its 27 parishes and ecclesial communities, 44 Catholic schools, diocesan agencies and ministries. The Diocese works alongside local people and organisations to provide a diverse range of spiritual, pastoral, educational, social and community support services for those who live and work in the Diocese.

About the Role

The Bishop of the Diocese of Broken Bay has recently set the path for a new way in which the Diocese journeys forward at the service of the Mission of the Gospel and in care of the People of Broken Bay. The Mission Broken Bay Team (Team) will be at the forefront of that new journey, and we are now beginning to expand that Team so that it can advocate and promote the growing missionary outlook of the Diocese to the faith communities it serves.

The Mission Projects Coordinator is a newly created role with a key focus to support the Team for special projects in implementing the pastoral priorities of the Bishop. A key priority of this role will be to work collaboratively with the Team, and in particular provide support to the Head of Mission Broken Bay Team, to strengthen the focus on Mission within the Diocese and implementing strategies for the renewal of parish life.

You will provide project management support for pastoral and mission projects for special Diocesan events and conferences, and assess and manage risks related to those projects according to Diocesan policy.

You will assist in the development and promotion of an exciting new Pastoral Mission Centre soon to be established in the Central Coast with the sole purpose of providing a place for parish leadership development.

Reporting will be an important aspect of your work, so assisting with the drafting of briefing papers and reports pertaining to mission projects will be a key priority.  Equally important will be the development, assembly and facilitation of faith formation and resources for courses, workshops and seminars which are responsibilities of this role.

At the heart of this role will be your ability to work collaboratively with various Diocesan stakeholders as it relates to Mission projects, and an openness to work with the Team as it evolves and strives to meet the needs of the Diocese.

This position is a full-time role and based at Pennant Hills with the flexibility to also work from the Pastoral Mission Centre in The Entrance when it is fully operational. The role will require you to work at times on weekends and evenings, and some travel will also be required.  A driver’s license and use of own motor vehicle will be required (for which a rate per km and tolls are paid).

Key Requirements

The Mission Projects Coordinator will ideally possess the following knowledge, experience and qualifications:

  • A practicing Catholic with a demonstrated personal commitment to the teachings, ethos, values and mission of the Catholic Church

  • Previous experience in a similar role including having previously provided project management services for a senior executive or senior project lead

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience drafting and formatting reports, briefing papers and executive level correspondence, and other forms of communications
