Head of Mission Enhancement Team

Parramatta

Full-time

·  Senior leadership opportunity

·  Diocesan-wide focus

·  Attractive remuneration package

About Us

Created in 1986, the Diocese of Parramatta, led by Bishop Vincent Long, is the Catholic Church in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, and one of the youngest dioceses in Australia. Spanning one of the fastest-growing areas of NSW, the Diocese largely incorporates the greater western Sydney area from Parramatta to Blackheath and from Richmond to Warragamba.

The Diocese is a diverse faith community representing many different ethnic groups, faith expressions, religious orders and age groups. We are all linked by the common purpose of following the path of Christ and continuing His work in the community. Since our earliest beginnings, we have been accompanying people from all walks of life as they embark on, discern, question, or return to their spiritual home.

About the Role

To continue in the spirit of that common purpose, the Diocese of Parramatta has a truly unique opportunity for an experienced leader with a passion and enthused ability to promote mission and to lead a team of mission-focussed professionals who are there to serve the faith communities of the Diocese.

As Head of the Mission Enhancement Team, and working closely with the Chancellor of Ministries and other Diocesan leaders, you will lead a team whose purpose is to collaborate with Clergy, parishes, Catholic Education, Diocesan agencies and communities and to support them with the integration of mission initiatives in accordance with the Bishop’s plan for mission in the Diocese.

You will work with your team to develop strategies and initiatives which engage and empower national and international events to foster formation and mission. You will keep abreast of, both at a national and international level, issues influencing the Church, and use that knowledge to equip the Diocese as it continues to embark on the Synodal journey.

You will help shape the culture of your team, ensuring they are operationally agile, flexible and responsive in facilitating the needs of people and communities it serves.

The role is a full-time role and based in Parramatta. The role will require you to work at times during the weekends and evenings, and some travel will also be required.  An attractive remuneration is offered, including a fully maintained Diocesan motor vehicle.

About You

Your experience working in a church or faith-based organisation, coupled with your leadership experience, is key to this role. Just as important are your excellent communication, interpersonal and people management skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and efficiently with others.

Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Theology, pastoral ministry, leadership and/or religious education.

  • Team management experience, and the ability to lead a team in a collaborative manner.

  • Ability to work autonomously, to think creatively and laterally.

  • Ability to implement strategic plans, manage risk, budgetary requirements and organisational needs.

  • Strong time management and organisational skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines.

  • A current Drivers Licence
